Q. What does it mean to have “all-access” with the Frog Pass dining plan?
A. All-access means you may come and go from 7:00 am to 9:00 pm daily as often as you like to the Market Square dining area in the new Brown-Lupton University Union
Q. What is the Market Square?
A. Market Square is going to be your restaurant for most of your meals. It will feature a wide variety of cuisine such as: STACKS – deli; Il Trattoria – brick oven pizza and pasta; Trinity Grill – burgers, chicken and more; Cook House – home comfort foods; Expeditions – international cuisine; Shuffles – rotating TCU menu favorites and Oasis – salad bar, all day breakfast and more. Each location will offer vegetarian options and dessert at every meal.
Q. Where else can I eat on campus?
A. You can continue to enjoy Sub Connection and Bistro Burnett on East Campus. Pond Street will be open daily for dinner and the new, 1873 Sports Grill and Café, located in the University Union will be open for lunch and dinner and late night until 3:00 am (Thursday through Saturday) and 2:00 am (Sunday thru Wednesday). You’ll be able to get grab and go items in the Corner Store in the new Union and your smoothies will still be served at NRG.
Q. I have a friend who lives off campus, can my friend get one of these plans?
A. Any TCU student can purchase a meal plan. The Frog Pass LTD plans offer either 50 swipes and 250 Frog Bucks, or 100 swipes and 200 Frog bucks. Or your off-campus friend could choose to add just Frog Bucks to his/her student ID card.
Q. I heard Frog Bucks could be used on and off campus. Is this true, and does it cost extra?
A. Yes, you may use Frog Bucks on or off campus. A list of off-campus restaurants will be available this summer. Frog Bucks are included in your Frog Pass Silver ($100), Gold ($300) and Platinum plans ($450) and if you run out you may choose to add more.
Q. The price of the Frog Pass plans includes Frog Bucks, and I get a discount on Frog Bucks if I upgrade my plan?
A. Yes, the Frog Pass Silver comes with 100 Frog Bucks for $1799. Gold gives you 200 more Frog Bucks for an additional $180 ($1979 total). The Platinum plan gives you 150 more Frog Bucks but the cost only increases $120 ($2099 total). The choice of plans is yours, but you will get more value as you upgrade your Frog Pass.
Q. Why is TCU changing its dining plans?
A. There are many reasons. We believe the new plans will help build a sense of community in the Commons. We are confident that students will eat healthier meals and enjoy their dining experience more with these new plans. We also feel that as a residential campus, it is important to offer plans that can cover all of a student’s meals, and these plans will do so.
Q. Can I get to go meals at Market Square?
A. No, it is designed as a sit down, dine-in experience. Students may use Frog Bucks at any other location for to go meals.
Q. What if I cannot get to Market Square because of my internship, nursing clinicals or other academic schedule conflicts?
A. TCU and Sodexho will have a pre-order plan that students can use to order a meal and then pick it up in the morning to take with them. More information on this plan will be available to students when they check in the residence halls in August.
Q. Will TCU make any changes to any of the Frog Pass plans?
A. TCU will monitor Frog Pass throughout the year. Frog Pass is a big adjustment for students as well as TCU. If improvements are needed, we’ll make adjustments but the basics of the plans will not change. Residential Services will survey students and conduct focus groups throughout the 08-09 year to help us decide potential plan changes for the future.
Q. I have special dietary needs; can I eat in the resident dining facility?
A. Whether you are a vegetarian, vegan, or have food allergies, TCU Dining Services can help make sure you always have something to eat. We have a nutrition counselor on staff that is available to work with you and set up a diet plan to meet your needs. In addition, all of our stations will have a vegetarian entrée available at each meal. Because most of our items are made to order, we can work with you to prepare a meal that meets your dietary requirements.
Q. If I have a visitor, can they dine in the resident dining facility with me?
A. Yes. Your guest is more than welcome at the resident dining facility, or at any other location on campus. At Market Square you may pay cash at the door, use your Frog Bucks or your credit or debit card to treat your guest to an all-you-care-to-eat experience.
