FIG Descriptions

Education

The Education FIG will be conveniently located in the newly renovated Clark Hall located adjacent to the Education building, Betsy and Steve Palko Hall.  As a part of this community, you will live with 20-25 other students who have either decided to major/minor in education or who are interested in education as a possible career.  Not only will you live with these students, but you will also be in the same College 101 course giving you the opportunity to share in both academic and social activities.

WISH – Women in Science and Health

If you are a female student who has decided to major/minor in a science or health discipline or if you’re just considering these areas of study as an option – this is the community for you!  As a part of the WISH FIG, you will both live in Foster Hall on a wing with 20-25 women and register for the same College 101 course.  In this community you will explore health and science in the classroom, have the ability to continue those discussions in the hall, and build relationships with women who have similar interests as you.

Service House

Whether community service and involvement has always been a part of your life or if you are interested in getting started now, the Service FIG is waiting to get you involved!  As a part of this community you will live with 20-25 other students in Foster Hall who share a passion for serving others and your community.  You will also be grouped together in the same College 101 course to further enrich your TCU experience.  Working closely with TCU’s Center for Community Involvement, you will have the opportunity to explore classes that are rooted in service learning, become involved in service projects as a group, and simply enjoy hanging out with those who enjoy some of the same things you do.  This is a perfect way to get plugged into the TCU and local community and a way to get excited about FrogHouse – a service project that TCU students may take on their Junior year!

Business

The Business FIG is for students who are interested in any of the business disciplines, wanting to apply to the Neeley School of Business, or who may be considering a minor in business.  In this community you will both live with 20-25 other students who have similar academic interests in the field of business and be grouped in the same College 101 course. By taking a shared course together, you will have the opportunity to engage in conversations with your friends back in the FIG about what you’re learning in the classroom, which may turn into potential study groups.  You will have insider-information on the most popular business professors and courses at TCU, gain information about groups such as the Business Fraternity Delta Sigma Pi and TCU CEO, and attend Speakers at Neeley as a group.

Honors

The Honors House is an extension of the Honors Program where students live and learn together.  This community is housed on two floors in Milton Daniel Hall where they have access to two classroom-style rooms in the hall that are used for speakers, fun programs, and study time.  Students in the Honors FIG also have the privilege of painting their own room from a palate of approved colors.  Honors students have access to some of the most exciting instructors and courses offered at TCU, and your peer leaders will help you find ways to be successful in the Honors program. Maybe you want to get involved with the Honors Cabinet or Council, or you are interested in qualifying for University Honors by taking four Honors Colloquia courses. Whatever your aspirations, living with your Honors peers can help you achieve your goals, beginning in your freshmen year.

Frog Camp

Everyone loves Frog Camp!  Why let the friendships you made during camp fade away during the year?  Challenge, CASA, Alpine and Eco will each have its own space in Foster for campers to re-connect and keep those memories alive!  You will also grow together as leaders and build upon your strengths through fun programs in the hall and through your College 101 course.  This community is perfect for those of you who are or who want to be strong leaders and want to get the most out of your freshman experience in order to jump-start your involvement at TCU for the upcoming years!
