There’s no specific person or set of experiences we’re looking for, we desire a strong diversity of experiences, ideas and personalities. Overall, our RAs share the following qualities:

 

A desire to build relationships: One of the primary roles of the RA is to develop both community and individual relationships. We look for candidates who have a desire to engage those around them.

 

A variety of experiences: There are no “perfect” experiences that we’re looking for; instead, we look for experiences that each candidate shows a passion for. Having a diversity of experiences on staff brings a great dynamic to our RA team. Each candidate can highlight how his or her experiences relate to the RA position and can be utilized for the development of our communities.

 

A willingness to learn: Resident Assistants are always learning through training, professional development opportunities and the everyday interactions with community members. Being open to new experiences, both positive and challenging, is necessary for staff members.
