Leadership and Strengths



Open to students who want to utilize their unique strengths to most effectively serve as a student leader. Frog Aides, SGA, Club and Organization leaders - all are welcome to live in a learning community that will support and mentor current and future TCU leaders. Participants will be encouraged to learn about the Strengths Quest assessment in order to determine their top 5 strengths. More focus will be given on how to use those strengths in various leadership opportunities on campus.

 

Goals for the Leadership and Strengths Living, Learning Community


 

  • Develop a strengths-based community
  • Develop strengths within each community participant
  • Integrate strengths in development as a student and a leader
  • Prepare participants of the community to seek and create leadership opportunities on campus
  • Prepare participants to train and recruit other students to become leaders
  • Participate in leadership course
  • Develop distinct understanding of personal leadership style
  • Gain understanding of the StrengthsQuest
  • Ability to effectively use leadership styles

 

Leadership and Strengths Living, Learning Community Programs


Utilize StrengthsQuest
Living, Learning Community members will take the StrengthsQuest assessment.  Members will have intentional conversations about the significance of strengths, strengths development, and working with strengths of others.

 

Community Leaders Luncheon
Living, Learning Community members will organize a luncheon with community leaders, and facilitate conversation about the role of University in community and students' responsibilities as community members.

 

Mentorship Opportunities
Living, Learning Community members will identify mentorship opportunities, and lead intentional discussions on being a mentor/selecting a mentor with residents.

 

Service Learning Opportunities
Living, Learning Community members will identify and participate in service projects in the Fort Worth area. 

 

Reflective Activities
Living, Learning Community members will lead reflective conversations after service learning opportunities. Residents are encouraged to keep an ongoing journal about service-learning projects.

 

Balance Discussions and Activities
Living, Learning Community members will actively participate in yoga and meditation classes on campus. The Living, Learning Community members will discuss time management skills.  Living, Learning Community members are encouraged to invite university speakers to discuss the search for balance and its necessity for leaders.

 

Focus of Self and Wellness
Living, Learning Community members will encourage ongoing discussions among community members about wellness. Living, Learning Community members will invite university leaders to have a discussion with residents about wellness.
